Honda CB Hornet 160R is a sports variant bike with a 162.71cc engine and it is designed targeting particularly the youth. Honda launched it in December 2015. HET technology powered Hornet engine is air-cooled, 4-stroke, SI Engine and it is compliant with BS-IV emission norms. Hornet has a muscular tank with attractive graphics and aggressive headlamp which has an AHO (Automatic Head light on). Honda Hornet 160R has a digital console and at the rear, it has X-shaped LED tail light. Overall the design looks good but not the great. It is available in 4 colours with respective coloured stickering on it. The 4 colour models are Striking Green, Mars Orange, Athletic Blue Metallic and Sports Red. Engine and Performance

Honda Hornet CB has the same engine that Honda CB Unicorn 160 had. Hornet engine generates a maximum power of 15.67 bhp @ 8500 rpm and maximum torque of 14.76 Nm @ 6500 rpm, which is slightly higher than that of Honda CB Unicorn 160. The engine works based on famous HET technology. HET technology is special for optimized fuel mileage. Hornet comes with 5-speed gearbox and can reach a maximum speed of  110 km whereas Unicorn 160 has a maximum speed of 106kmph.

Tyres, Brakes and Suspension

The bike has a telescopic front suspension and monoshock rear suspension. Hornet comes with 5-spoke split alloy wheels. The bike comes with tubeless tyres with sizes  100/80-17(front) and 140/70-17(rear). The rear tyre is broad with 140mm width which avoids skidding and ensures stability.

The front wheel has a 276mm Petal disc brake and the rear tyre has 130mm drum brake and 220mm Petal Disc Brake. The brakes are powered by CBS (Combi Brake System) technology and with Equalizer. CBS technology is special for better stability in short braking distances.

Fuel tank Capacity and Mileage

It has 12L of the fuel tank and gets a mileage of 45 to 55kmpl with mixed riding conditions. ARAI-certified Mileage of 59 kmpl.

  1. Low brightness of Headlamp(12V 35/35W) and causes some issues during the night.
  2. No ABS Braking System
  3. No engine Kill Switch
  4. Some Vibration issues.

  1. I own a Unicorn 160 with 5200+ KMS I find it more smooth and comfortable than the hornet.Yes, wheels are thin than hornet but its more than sufficient as this engine is best suited to just 85 – 90 KmPH. Hornet has a distinct styling which surely gives a striking edge, especially when viewed from the sides.
