Heavy flooding and Continues rainfall have destroyed the entire state of Kerala. It has been raining in Kerala profusely for a week, because of which all the water reservoirs in Kerala are filled completely. The government opened shutters to stop the dams from falling apart. 35 dams out of 39 dams had to release water in them. This led to floods in several parts of Kerala. The entire state is on red alert now and several cities and towns have been isolated with no means to contact the people there. Several thousands of people have lost their homes and the death toll has reached 330. It’s very crucial to do our bit in this hour of need of the state.
Why do I have to help?
Kerala is a very important location for the whole of south India or more accurately the whole country. The port of Kochi is considered a very important hub and is used for shipping purposes to other countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. If the impact of the flood is very drastic, this port might not be recovered after the floods and we will have to use the port of Colombo for big shipments. This will increase the costs and will make our exports unattractive.
According to the reports, already the losses for the tea, coffee and rubber planters have raised up to 600Cr. These are goods that are mostly exported and hence, the country’s exports will further decrease. Also, Kerala is known for its tourism and most towns in the state are built based on the tourist attractions so the economy will be drastically hit. So, the damage of Kerala will have an impact on you so its better if we pitch in now and reduce the damage to whatever extent we can.
