Bike Ride from Vijayawada to Araku

Riding a motorcycle is Passion every bike rider. Most of them have passion to travel on bike for longer distances but only few of them can achieve their dreams. So, we are one of the bike riders who planned a sudden trip from Vijayawada to Araku (546kms).

Bike selection

Selection of bike is the most important factor while starting your journey. We selected Royal Enfield Himalayan to start our journey. Also, we have to select safety riding kit to reach our destination safely.

About the trip

Taking a motorcycle tour in Sunrising state   Andhra Pradesh is the best way to explore the land of culture and adventure with valleys, forests, Ghat roads, rivers and etc.

One fine day morning, we planned our sudden trip from Vijayawada to Araku Valley. We started our journey from Vijayawada Benz circle around 9:30 Am. We have seen so many adventures while travelling from starting point to destination point. There are some adventurous and tricky routes for daring bike riders.


Day 1: Vijayawada to Vizag (346kms)

 9:20Am: We both met at Benz circle which is our starting point.

9:30Am: Started from meeting point

10:15Am: Bought hand Gloves from Decathlon in Enikepadu and briefed about our ride.

11:00Am: Crossed Gannavaram Airport.

1:00 pm: Safely reached to Ravvulapalem town and had lunch over there.

2:00 pm: After lunch we started over from Ravvulapalem town.

3:00 pm: Reached to Rajahmundry.

7:00 pm: End of day-1 ride after riding 346kms we stay at Hotel SVR Grand near Vizag Bus stand.

DAY 2: Vizag to Araku (115kms) complete ride in Ghat road followed by heavy Fog

 4:00Am: Wakeup call

5:00Am: Started from Vizag

6:00Am: Crossed Kothavalasa (v)

6:30Am: Breakfast stop at Srungavarapu Kota (v)

7:00Am: Started ride towards Araku

8:00AM: Reached Araku safely on Royal Enfield Himalayan.


Araku valley is one of the best hill stations and valley region in our Sun Rising state Andhra Pradesh. It’s surrounded by the thick forests of Eastern Ghats mountain range. The tribal museum is dedicated to the area’s numerous tribes known for their traditional Dhmisa dance. The museum show cases traditional handicrafts and the equipment they used to hunt the wild animals. Coffee was introduced in Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1898 by the British Govt. in Pamuleru Valley East Godavari district. And it was spread over to Araku valley in 19th century.


Borra caves are one-million year old limestone caves and the deepest caves in the country. Situated in Anantagiri hills of Andhra Pradesh, these caves occupy an area 2sq kms, Borra caves is the best places to visit near Araku valley.

If you travel from Vizag you first visit Borra caves from there with in 36kms you will reach Araku valley.

Ananthagiri is a lovely hill station between Vizag and Araku valley, It is one of the top most tourist places to visit Araku valley and is also among the top hill station in Sun rising state Andhra Pradesh apart from that a popular weekend gateway from vizag. Anantagiri is famous for coffee plantations and numerous waterfalls. There is one view point on way to Ananthagiri that offers excellent view point of the deep valleys on side and coffee plantations on other side.

Ananthagiri hills are well known for its scenic beauty and charming weather. It is a perfect gateway to spend some time with loved ones on nature, It is Paradise for coffee lovers and nature enthusiasts, This village is surrounded by coffee plantations, forests and mountain ranges cover the route between vizag to Ananthagiri. This hill resorts is a perfect gate way for the hot and humid weathers in summer months.

The famous Borra caves are very closer to Ananthagiri hills. This unexplored and peaceful environment of the hills attracts   tourists from various parts of the country. Watching the panoramic views ranging from sunrise, sunset. Thick forest and mountain ranges cover the route between vizag and Ananthagiri.

Accommodation is easily available in Ananthagiri hill station, there are various services provided here for tourists and travelers by Andhra Pradesh state tourism development authority.

Chaparai waterfalls are a popular tourist attraction, with its endless streams that cut across big rock formations of Araku valley. The area around the waterfalls has become a popular site for picnicking owing to the presence of the beautiful stream flowing through wide rock formations. Smooth slanting rocks interrupt the stream, making a huge natural water slide. This waterfall is highly attractive and allures lots of tourist. This waterfall is one of the preferred locations for filmmakers.

One can experience the beauty of water gushing through natural rocks. Bathing is well possible when the water flow is not really heavy. It is recommended not to enter into the water in monsoon season when water flow is heavy. Entry fees is 10/- for each person.


Distance from Araku bus stand to chaaparai (13kms) travelers have to take their own vehicles or hire a taxi/auto from Araku and visit this place.

 We both started from chaparai water falls to Vijayawada on Royal Enfield Himalayan, we have seen so many adventures while travelling on Paderu road.

  1. While driving motor cycle, safety is first. You have to carry Helmet & Jacket.
  2. Don’t drive too harsh. There is always someone who is waiting for you back home.  
  3. Avoid mobile while driving.
  4. Check bike condition.
  5. Stay hydrated.
  6. Be prepared for any kind of climate.
  7. Carry essential tools.
  8. Don’t over pack, pack light.

In our busy life we always miss something. That something is spending some time with nature. One must always spend some valuable time with the nature for better health and relaxation. Araku valley, on of the best hill stations. Everyone visits there, feels like staying permanently. The true nature lies in Araku.

If you are planning a visit to Araku, plan for at least 3 days. You can visit every place there and experience the true nature. You can also spend some time with the tribes there and learn their culture.
