Bangalore palace

Bangalore Palace was built by Chamaraja Wodeyar, in 1887. This palace has Tudor-style with woodcarvings in its interiors and is inspired by England’s Windsor Castle.

The Royal family still lives there. The palace is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm. The entry fee is 460 rupees for foreigners and 230 rupees for Indians. For photos, there is a camera fee of 675 rupees.

It is an art gallery in Bangalore. The national gallery was started in the year 2009. It shows the Modern Indian art and house paintings by Jamini Roy, Raja Ravi Verma, Rabindranath Tagore.

NGMA is located in Manikyavelu mansion on palace road. It is open from 10 am to 5 pm. Closed on Mondays and National holidays.

Entry fee is 20/- for Indians and 500/- for foreigners(free for school students up to XII class- school ID must). There exists professional photography which costs 1000/- per image.

Tipu sultan’s palace

Tipu sultan’s palace was one of the top 10 places to visit in bangalore originally built by Chikkadeva Raya in the mud. Later it was reconstructed by Hyder Ali in Indo-Islamic style, which was completed by his son, Tipu Sultan, in 1791. It was situated inside the Bangalore fort area.

The palace is open daily from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Ticket costs rupees 15/- for Indians and rupees 200/- for foreigners.

Ulsoor Lake

Ulsoor lake is spread over an area of 1.5 square kilometers(125 acres). It was constructed by Kempegowda II. Earlier, Ulsoor lake was known “Halsur” or “Alasur”. This lake also serves as the venue for Ganesh festival. There is a gurdwara near the Ulsoor lake, which is considered to be the largest sixth shrine in the Bangalore city of India.

ISKCON temple

Sri Radha Krishna Temple is located at Rajajinagar, in north Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It is a huge cultural complex started in the year 1997 by Shankar Dayal Sharma and the temple is one of the largest ISKCON temples in the world.

The temple is opened at 4:15 am for Mangala-aarti followed by Shringara Darshana Aarati from 5:15 am to 7:15 am and the temple remains open till 1:00 pm. In the evenings the temple is open from 4:15 pm to 8:15 pm. During weekends and public holidays, the temple timings are 4:15 am to 5:00 am and 7:00 am to 8:30 pm without any break.

Basavanna Gudi(Bull temple)

The name Basavannagudi is derived from the Kannada word ‘Basava’. The Bull temple or Nandi temple is one of the oldest temples in Bangalore, situated in Basavannagudi dedicated to Nandi. It was built in the year 1537 by Kempegowda in the Vijayanagara Architectural style.

The temple has a huge idol Bull of 4.5m tall and 6m long. Mythological beliefs say that the Bull has a small iron plate on its head to prevent it from growing. The temple opens from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 9: pm

Kemp fort Shiva temple

The kempfort shiva temple is one of the top 10 places to visit in Bangalore. The Shiva temple consists 65 feet tall idol of Lord Shiva with a backdrop of Himalayas and surrounded by a pond. The temple was originated by Sri Shankaracharya of Shringeri in the year 1995 on the auspicious day of Maha Shivaratri. The temple has a Ganapati statue close to the entrance.

Nandi Hills

Nandi Hills or Nandi betta is an Ancient hill in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka state. It is 60kms from the city of Bangalore.

The origin of name Nandi hills existed from one of the stories that During the Chola period, Nandi Hills was called Ananda Giri meaning the hill of happiness.
